You can check stitch count by observation and touch. Hold the sweater against light: thicker ones let more light through. Pinch the fabric gently: thicker sweaters feel looser, while finer ones are tight .

Note that stitch count isn’t the only factor. Knitting methods like jacquard may make high-stitch-count sweaters thicker . Yarn material and post-processing also affect thickness .
