How to Dry Sweaters

The core principle of sweater drying is to avoid dragging and deformation, prevent fiber damage, dry quickly to prevent bacteria. The drying method of sweaters of different materials is slightly different, but the overall logic needs to be followed by "plain covering mainly and drying optimally". The specific methods and considerations are as follows:

I. General pre-sun dry preparation

Dehydration Treatment

Wash the sweater by hand: After washing, gently press the palm of your hand to squeeze out the moisture, never wring it hard (it will destroy the fiber structure, causing deformation and ball rolling); You can also wrap the sweater in a large clean towel and press to absorb the excess water. Repeat 2-3 times until there are no visible droplets.

Machine-washed sweaters: Only suitable for models labeled "machine washable," need to be placed in the laundry bag, select "gentle step" + low speed dehydration (≤ 800 rpm / min). Remove it immediately after dehydration to avoid swelling in the washing machine for a long time and growing odor.

Organize form: After dehydration, while the sweater is not completely dry, gently stretch and organize the clothing to its original shape (e.g., the collar, cuffs, hems are restored to a level), so as to avoid deformation after drying.

II. How to leave sweaters of different materials to dry

1. Natural wool sweaters (wool, cashmere, camel wool, etc.)

How to leave: Leave the sweater flat on a clean drying rack, ventilation rack, or on a flat surface with a clean towel (such as a table, bed) to ensure that the clothes are in full contact with air.

Leave it in a cool, ventilated, dry place to avoid direct sunlight (ultraviolet rays will destroy the wool fibers, causing the fabric to yellow and become brittle); Stay away from high-temperature heat sources such as heating, air conditioning vents, and stoves (local high temperatures are easy to cause shrinkage and hardness).

Taboos: It is strictly forbidden to hang and dry (gravity will stretch the wool fibers, causing the collar to sag and the length of the garment to become longer); Do not put it in a dryer (high temperature will make the wool felt and contract).

2. Pure cotton sweater

How to dry: It can be spread out (avoid deformation) or gently hung for a short time (use a wide shoulder holder to hang on the inside of the shoulder of the clothing to reduce shoulder pull).

The drying environment: mainly shaded and ventilated areas. If you need to accelerate drying, you can briefly dry in the slanting sun (avoid sun exposure causing bleaching and the fabric hardening). When drying, the face is turned to the sun to reduce the risk of front bleaching.

Caution: Avoid drying at high temperature, otherwise it is easy to shrink and deformation; Store in time after drying to prevent moisture and mold.

3. Synthetic fiber sweaters (acrylic, polyester, mixed woven, etc.)

How to dry: Flat or suspended. Use a wide shoulder strap when hanging and hang it in a shoulder position to avoid a single point of force; Light and thin mixed-knit sweaters can also be folded on a shelf to reduce stretching.

The drying environment: dry in a cool, ventilated area is sufficient, and the synthetic fibers dry quickly without the need for sun exposure (sun exposure may cause the fibers to age and lose their luster).

Note: Some synthetic fibers (such as acrylic) are not resistant to high temperatures and still need to be avoided near heat sources.Polyester sweaters labeled "dryable" can be chosen for low temperature drying (≤ 60 ° C), but frequent use is not recommended.

4. Special materials sweaters (silk blending, lace stitching, etc.)

How to dry: It must be laid flat to avoid hanging causing uneven pressure on the joint and deformation of the lace.

Suning: In a cool, airy place, avoid direct sunlight (the silk fiber is easily damaged by ultraviolet rays, causing yellowing and brittleness).

Note: Do not use a towel to apply pressure to absorb water (avoid lace curls and silk wrinkles), gently absorb moisture and flatten it.

III. KEY NOTES

Avoid sun exposure: Most sweaters (especially natural fibers and color patterns) need to be avoided from direct sunlight. Sun exposure can cause fading, aging of fibers, hardening of fabrics, and reduce the life of clothing.

Maintain ventilation: The drying environment requires air circulation. Avoid drying in a damp, enclosed space (such as the bathroom) to prevent the sweater from becoming moldy and smelly.

Keep away from the source of pollution: Avoid the area where there is a lot of smoke and dust when drying, and avoid the stains and odors of clothes.

Store in time: Store the sweater after it has dried completely (criterion of judgment: no moisture sensation at the touch, internal fibers are dry), to avoid mold and worm infestation caused by undry packaging; Before packaging, gently pat to restore the fluffyness of the fabric.

Special Situations: If the sweater has slight folds after washing, it can be gently stretched and arranged under a semi-dry state, or after drying, sprayed in the air with a steam iron (the temperature is adjusted according to the material to avoid direct contact with the fabric).
