Not all sweaters of wool need to be dried, and whether or not it is dried depends mainly on the characteristics of the fiber, the structure of the clothing, and the label explaination. The following types of sweaters are usually recommended for dry cleaning due to their expensive materials or special structures (follow label guidelines as a priority):

I. Core types of wool sweaters that need dry cleaning

1. Pure cashmere / High-end cashmere blended sweater

Cashmere fibres are thin and fragile, and water washing (especially not hand washing / machine washing) is prone to problems such as shrinkage, deformation, balling, and broken fibres, causing clothing to lose its soft texture and original form.

High-end cashmere mixed woven fabrics (such as cashmere + silk, cashmere + wool) have complex compositions and high value, and dry cleaning can protect the fiber structure to the greatest extent, avoiding the interaction of mixed weaver ingredients (such as the silk components are easy to fade and deform when washing with water).

2. Pure wool / fine wool high-end sweaters (especially those with complex structures)

Fine wool of less than 20 microns fine (such as Merino fine wool) tends to shrink after water washing (the fibres wrap around each other and clump together) and is less resistant to wrinkles. Dry cleaning reduces morphological damage.

Wool sweaters with a complex design, such as:

Large areas of embroidery, beads, bright sheets and other decorative items, and water washing may cause the decorative items to fall off and become stained and stained;

Special woven structures such as flowering and embroidery are easily deformed when exposed to uneven force during water washing;

Splices (such as wool and leather and silk splices), the shrinkage rate of different materials varies greatly, and dry cleaning can reduce the risk of deformation.

3. Rare high-end wool sweaters such as camel wool and horse wool

This type of wool is rarely produced and expensive, and the fiber structure is special (such as camel wool with thin scales on the surface). Water washing is easy to destroy the softness and glossiness of the fibers, even to become felt and hard. Dry cleaning is the best way to protect its quality.

4. Wool sweaters with a complex dye process or easy to fade

Some dark and bright wool sweaters use a poorly stable dye, which is easy to fade and cluster when washing with water. The special solvent used in dry cleaning can reduce the dye loss and maintain the bright color of the clothing.

II. Common wool sweaters that do not require dry cleaning

Synthetic fiber wool: For sweaters such as pure acrylic, polyester, acrylic cotton blend, a polyester wool blend (low percentage of wool), synthetic fibers are strongly resistant to washing, and the wash label is usually labeled "hand-washable" or "machine-washable," and it can be treated according to conventional mild washing methods.

Regular coarse wool sweaters: Coarse wool with a fineness of 30 microns or more (such as Mongolian wool) has relatively good washing resistance and can be washed by hand (mild detergent + low temperature water + gentle operation) if the washing label does not indicate "dry washing only."

Basic wool sweaters with simple structure: wool wool without decorative items, pure color, simple woven sweaters. If the wash label allows, it can also be carefully washed by hand (strictly control the temperature and strength of the water to avoid being soaked for too long).

Priority to follow the washing label guidelines: the washing label on the inside of the clothing is the most authoritative care basis, marked "Dry Clean Only" and "Dry Clean Only" must be dry cleaned; When marked "dry / hand-washable," you can choose according to the actual situation (dry washing is recommended for high-end models).

Choosing a dry cleaning shop: You need to choose a regular dry cleaning store, clearly inform the clerk about the wool material of the sweater (such as "pure cashmere" and "fine wool"), and require the use of special dry cleaning solvents for the wool to avoid hardening and fading of the fabric due to improper solvents.

Avoid frequent dry cleaning: frequent dry cleaning will damage the grease layer of wool fiber, resulting in fabric drying, brittle, generally wearing 3-5 times or clothes obviously dirty dry, local stains can be dipped in a small amount of cotton swab gently wipe the neutral detergent (after the test without fading).
