Different yields: Each sheep can produce several kilograms of wool annually, whereas each goat can only yield tens of grams of cashmere per year. Thus, global annual wool production exceeds cashmere production by more than 50 times.

Different skin-friendliness: Cashmere fibers, composed of scales and cortical layers, do not contain a medulla. Their average diameter is 5–9 microns shorter than that of fine wool, making cashmere garments far more skin-friendly than woolen ones. Therefore, any "cashmere sweater" that feels prickly is definitely not pure cashmere.

Different moisture absorption capacities: Cashmere has stronger moisture absorption than wool. For this reason, cashmere does not fade after dyeing and retains vibrant colors.

Different warmth retention: Cashmere provides 8 times better warmth than wool. This is because, under the same coverage area, fine cashmere traps more still air than wool, resulting in superior thermal insulation.

Different luster: The hair scales of wool are pointed, whereas those of cashmere are rounded. Additionally, cashmere fibers are hollow and lack a medulla. As a result, cashmere garments have a softer, more subdued luster and appear more textured.
